JRTC Board Meeting Notes
What follows are the notes from the December 12, 2017 meeting of the Jackson River Technical Center Joint Board of Control. You are encouraged to contact Eugene Kotulka if you have questions regarding this information.
Present: Cindy Bennett (Covington City), Eddy Clemons (Covington City), Gerald Franson (Alleghany County), Jennifer Seckner (Alleghany County), Randy Tucker (Alleghany County), Craig Lane (Alleghany County), Glenn Spangler (JRTC Director), Christy Armentrout (Clerk), Melinda Snead-Johnson (Covington City Superintendent) and Eugene Kotulka (Alleghany County Superintendent).
1. The minutes of the November meeting were approved.
2. Mr. Spangler reported the first semester would be over in a week. He noted 3 welding students competed in the AWS and placed 1st (Cody Via), 4th (Trevor Cox), and 5th (Hannah Wolfe). He stated the Skills USA competitions would be coming up and he would let them know the dates.
3. Mr. Spangler reviewed his 3 goals for the year:
a. Update JRTC policy manual
b. Fully implement the CST program
c. Completion of the welding lab upgrade
Board entered Executive Session to discuss personnel and business matters. Personnel was approved. Also approved to develop an MOU with DSLCC to
use the machinery
equipment in the machine shop.
5. Bills in the amount of $19,780.89 were approved. Bills and salaries in the amount of $81,738.39 were also paid in accordance with approved salary and benefit schedules.
The meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
