Alleghany School Board Names Assistant Principal
 of Alleghany High School


February 27, 2015  The Alleghany County School Board appointed Mrs. Kelly A. Huff to serve as the assistant principal at Alleghany High School for the 2015-16 school year.

     Mrs. Huff received her bachelor’s degree in English from Virginia Polytechnic University in 1996 and her master’s degree in English from George Mason in 1999.   Continuing her education, she received her teaching certification at Concord University in 2001 and certification in Educational Leadership/Administration and Supervision at Concord University in 2014.

 

     Mrs. Huff has taught English at Alleghany High School since January of 2002 as well as dual enrollment courses offered at Alleghany High School through Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.  She has played an important role in the English department at Alleghany High School.

     When asked about her appointment, Mrs. Huff stated, "I am honored and blessed to have been selected to fulfill the duties of assistant principal at Alleghany High School effective July 1, 2015.  I am excited to be part of the AHS administrative team and anxious to put my instructional skills to use at the high school.  It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with such an outstanding faculty and staff.  I have been a part of the AHS community for the last 14-years, and I'm excited to continue this relationship in a new capacity."

     Mr. Dwayne Ross, Principal at AHS commented: “We are thrilled to have her on board as the new assistant principal staring July 1st.   She has been a member of our staff since 2002 and is currently doing an excellent job in a shared interim assistant principal position”

     Speaking on the administrative change, Mary Jane Mutispaugh, Acting Superintendent, stated, “Alleghany County Public Schools is pleased to welcome Kelly Huff to the administrative team at Alleghany High School.   We look forward to working with her in transitioning to this new phase of her professional career.”
