MINUTES

CALLED MEETING OF THE ALLEGHANY COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD

The Alleghany County School Board held a called meeting on November 8, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. at the Central Office Complex in Low Moor, Virginia.

PRESENT: William W. Angle, Vice-Chairman; Stacey P. Bryant; Amber D. Kerns; Patsy G. McKinney; Benjamin J. Truett; and Norman L. Persinger, Jr., Chairman. Also present: Sarah T. Campbell, Superintendent/ Clerk and Lorie C. Bess, Deputy Clerk.

ABSENT: Robert A. Fridley

Chairman Persinger presided and called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

(13-99) REPORT FROM CROPPER GIS REGARDING SCHOOL REDISTRICTING STUDY

Matthew Cropper gave a presentation to the School Board detailing county population numbers, student enrollment, building utilizations and other geographical information. It was his recommendation that Boiling Spring Elementary and Sharon Elementary be considered for closure. Chairman Persinger noted this information will be considered by the School Board and a public hearing would be held in the future. No formal action was taken during the meeting. A copy of the study is attached to these minutes and also posted on the division website.

There were no additions to the agenda.

ADJOURNMENT

MOTION: That the Alleghany County School Board meeting be adjourned to a work session
at Clifton Middle School at 7:00 p.m.
